🙏 SOAP DEVOTIONAL
SOAP: scripture, observation, application, prayer
Today’s SOAP Devotional
S - SCRIPTURE: Psalm 126:5-6 (NIV):
"Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them."
O - OBSERVATION:
Psalm 126 is a song of thanksgiving for God's restoration. It recalls the joy of Israel when they returned from exile, a time when their fortunes were reversed, and their hearts were filled with laughter. The psalm also points to a deeper truth about the process of sowing and reaping in God's Kingdom. It acknowledges that seasons of sorrow and hardship are real, but it assures us that God turns our weeping into joy. The image of sowing in tears but reaping in joy shows that God doesn't waste our pain. Every tear sown in faith will produce a harvest of joy in His perfect timing.
A - APPLICATION:
Have you been in a season of weeping, carrying burdens that feel heavy and unending? Psalm 126 reminds us that God sees our tears and that He is faithful to bring joy from our sorrow. Even when it feels like nothing is growing in the soil of our struggles, God is at work, preparing a harvest of joy. The key is to keep sowing in faith, trusting that God’s timing is perfect. What seeds of faith, hope, or perseverance can you continue to plant today, even through your tears? Rejoice in the promise that God will bring a great harvest from your faithfulness.
P - PRAYER:
Lord, thank You for the promise that You turn our mourning into joy. Help me to trust You in the hard seasons, to continue sowing in faith even when I don’t see results. Remind me that You are faithful and that joy will come in due time. Give me strength and patience to persevere, and fill my heart with hope as I wait for the harvest. Amen.
What is a SOAP?
For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.
Here’s how it works:
S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!
O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?
A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?
P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
We hope that you took one step further in your walk with Jesus today. 🙏
