🙏 SOAP DEVOTIONAL
SOAP: scripture, observation, application, prayer

Today’s SOAP Devotional

S - SCRIPTURE: 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

"The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

O - OBSERVATION:

In this chapter, Peter addresses the concerns of believers who were questioning why Jesus hadn't yet returned. He explains that God's timeline is different from ours, and what seems like delay is actually an expression of His patience and mercy. God desires that all people would come to repentance and receive salvation. His delay is not neglect, but compassion, giving everyone the opportunity to turn to Him.

The chapter also reminds us that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, and we are to live holy and godly lives in anticipation of His return, knowing that everything in this world is temporary.

A - APPLICATION:

God’s patience with the world is an act of love. Sometimes, I may feel impatient, wondering when God will fulfill His promises or bring justice, but I’m reminded that His timing is perfect. He is giving more people the opportunity to repent and turn to Him. This is a call for me to be patient, to trust His timing, and to share the gospel with others while there is still time.

How can I use my time wisely while waiting for the Lord's return? How can I reflect God’s heart for others by showing them His love and patience, encouraging them to turn to Him?

P - PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for Your patience with me and with the world. Help me not to grow impatient or discouraged when Your timing doesn’t match mine. Instead, give me a heart that trusts You fully and a passion to share Your love with others. May I live a life that reflects Your holiness and point others toward repentance. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Change Lives by Sharing God’s Word

A message from today’s sponsor, Prison Fellowship

Did you know that Hebrews 13:3 calls us to “remember those in prison”?

We can’t all physically minister in prisons, but we are excited to share an amazing opportunity to reach incarcerated men and women with what they need most: God’s Word! There is nothing short of a revival happening behind prison walls, and Bibles are desperately needed in America’s prisons.

Will you give today to send Bibles and life-changing Christian content to prisoners?

What is a SOAP?

For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.

Here’s how it works:

S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!

O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?

A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?

P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.

We hope that you took one step further in your walk with Jesus today. 🙏
