Today’s SOAP Devotional
S - SCRIPTURE: Luke 17:5-6
"The apostles said to the Lord, 'Increase our faith!' He replied, 'If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, "Be uprooted and planted in the sea," and it will obey you.'"
O - OBSERVATION:
Jesus doesn't emphasize the size of our faith as much as its authenticity. His response to the disciples' request for more faith reveals a powerful truth: even the smallest genuine faith carries explosive spiritual authority. It's not the quantity but the quality of our trust in Him that unleashes the miraculous in our lives.
A - APPLICATION:
Many times, we think our faith needs to be enormous or perfect to move mountains or see breakthrough. Yet Jesus teaches us that it's not about how big our faith feels; it's about how deeply and genuinely we trust in His power and promises. Today, instead of focusing on increasing faith's size, let's cultivate true, authentic, mustard-seed faith—faith that fully believes Jesus is who He says He is, even when our circumstances suggest otherwise. Speak boldly to the "mulberry trees" in your life, trusting they'll obey because your trust isn't in yourself, but in the One who commands oceans, storms, and trees alike.
Calls to Action:
Identify one area of your life today where you've felt overwhelmed or powerless. Take a moment right now to verbally declare God's promises over this area.
Write down one specific miracle or breakthrough you're believing for and commit to praying boldly for it daily, no matter how small your faith feels.
Share with a friend or accountability partner this week about where you're actively trusting God, inviting them to pray alongside you.
P - PRAYER:
Father, forgive me for complicating faith and believing I need more to see Your miracles. Today, I choose to place authentic, mustard-seed-sized trust in You. Empower me to confidently speak Your truth into my circumstances, knowing that nothing is impossible when my heart is fully surrendered to You. In Jesus' mighty name, amen.
What is a SOAP?
For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.
Here’s how it works:
S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!
O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?
A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?
P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
