🙏 SOAP DEVOTIONAL
SOAP: scripture, observation, application, prayer.
Today’s SOAP Devotional
S - SCRIPTURE: Mark 5:27-28 (NIV)
When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, 'If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.'”
O - OBSERVATION:
Mark 5 is a powerful chapter showcasing Jesus' authority over the spiritual, physical, and natural realms. Three incredible stories are woven together:
Jesus heals the demon-possessed man in the Gerasenes, freeing him from bondage.
A woman suffering for twelve years is healed by her faith in merely touching Jesus’ garment.
Jairus’ dead daughter is brought back to life by the word and touch of Jesus.
In every instance, people came to Jesus in desperation, but their faith unlocked His transformative power. This chapter reminds us that no storm, illness, or spiritual battle is too great for Jesus.
A - APPLICATION:
Mark 5 teaches us to approach Jesus with bold faith, no matter how hopeless our situation seems. Like the bleeding woman, we must believe that even the smallest connection to Jesus can bring healing and restoration. Like Jairus, we can trust Him with what feels lost and impossible. And like the Gerasene man, Jesus desires to free us from any bondage holding us back.
Today, identify one area of your life that feels overwhelming or broken. Bring it to Jesus in prayer, trusting His power to heal and restore. Have faith that He is more than able.
P - PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I come to You today with faith, knowing that You have authority over every part of my life. I bring You my brokenness and trust You to bring healing and restoration. Help me to believe in Your power even when it feels hopeless. Thank You for Your love and willingness to meet me in my need. Amen.
What is a SOAP?
For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.
Here’s how it works:
S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!
O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?
A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?
P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
