SOAP: scripture, observation, application, prayer

For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.

Here’s how it works:

S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!

O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?

A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?

P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.

Today’s SOAP Devotional

S - SCRIPTURE: Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'”

O - OBSERVATION: It’s a great commission, not a great suggestion..

This is not just a commission; it is a command from the King of Kings! When Jesus spoke these words, He was declaring that all authority—every power in heaven and on earth—has been placed in His hands. He has defeated death, hell, and the grave, and now He sends us forth with that same authority. This is no small task; it is a divine mandate that reaches to the ends of the earth. The Great Commission is not a suggestion for a select few but a marching order for every believer. And let me tell you, with Jesus’ authority backing us, the gates of hell will not prevail against us!

A - APPLICATION: I WILL GO!

It’s time to rise up with the fire of the Holy Spirit burning in our hearts! The Great Commission calls us to step out with boldness and faith, knowing that heaven’s authority is with us. We are not just believers; we are soul-winners, nation-shakers, and history-makers! The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God. We are called to invade the darkness with the light of Christ, to preach the gospel with power, and to see souls saved by the millions. This is not a time for passive Christianity—this is the hour of harvest, and the fields are white and ready! Jesus is with us, empowering us to do the impossible. So go, and let the world know that Jesus is alive!

P - PRAYER: Send me Lord!

Lord Jesus, thank You for the mighty call You’ve placed on our lives. Fill us with the fire of the Holy Spirit and send us out to preach the gospel to every nation, tribe, and tongue. Let us walk in Your authority and see the lost saved, the sick healed, and the captives set free. We declare that the harvest is ready, and we are willing! Use us, Lord, to bring in a mighty harvest of souls for Your kingdom. Amen!
