Today’s SOAP Devotional

S - SCRIPTURE: 2 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these, He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires."

O - OBSERVATION:

Peter reminds us that everything we need to live a godly life has already been provided through God's power. Our relationship with Jesus gives us access to these divine resources—His glory, goodness, and the promises He’s given us. Because of this, we are not only saved from the world’s corruption but invited to partake in the divine nature. This transformation from within is a continual process as we align more with Christ and move further from the temptations and desires of the world.

A - APPLICATION:

This passage calls me to stop striving in my own strength and instead rely on God's divine power. Everything I need for life and godliness is found in Him. I don’t need to fear the pressures of this world, nor do I need to give in to the desires that pull me away from God. Instead, I can rest in His promises and focus on growing in my relationship with Him, knowing that He is transforming me daily.

How can I lean more into His power today? What steps can I take to deepen my knowledge of Jesus and rely on His promises rather than my own efforts?

P - PRAYER:

Lord, thank You for giving me everything I need to live a godly life through Your divine power. Help me to grow in my knowledge of You, and remind me daily to rely on Your strength, not mine. May I partake in Your divine nature and live a life that reflects Your glory and goodness. Amen.

What is a SOAP?

For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.

Here’s how it works:

S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!

O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?

A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?

P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.

We hope that you took one step further in your walk with Jesus today. 🙏
