🙏 SOAP DEVOTIONAL
SOAP: scripture, observation, application, prayer
Today’s SOAP Devotional by Jacob Coyne
S - SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 33:3(NIV):
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” — Jeremiah 33:3 (NIV)
O - OBSERVATION:
In this verse, God speaks to the prophet Jeremiah while he’s imprisoned, reminding him that divine revelation is available to those who seek Him. Despite Jeremiah’s difficult circumstances, God encourages him to call out and promises an answer—one that reveals deep, hidden truths that Jeremiah couldn’t discover on his own. This verse highlights God’s willingness to engage with us and His desire to show us profound mysteries, if only we would reach out in prayer. God isn’t distant; He’s ready to respond with wisdom, comfort, and insight beyond human understanding.
A - APPLICATION:
How often do we forget that God is eagerly waiting for us to call out to Him? In our everyday hustle, we can become so focused on our own efforts and plans that we neglect the simplest yet most powerful resource available: prayer. This verse is a beautiful reminder that God wants us to seek Him—especially when we feel lost or uncertain. He promises to answer us, not just with basic guidance, but with “great and unsearchable” things—truths that will deepen our understanding of His heart and His ways. Let’s make it a priority to pause and call out to God daily, expecting Him to reveal what we could never uncover on our own.
P - PRAYER:
Lord, I call out to You today. Teach me the things I do not know, and open my heart to the mysteries of Your kingdom. Help me to trust Your wisdom over my own understanding, and remind me daily that You are always ready to speak. I surrender my need for control and instead, seek Your voice above all else. Amen.
What is a SOAP?
For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.
Here’s how it works:
S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!
O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?
A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?
P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
We hope that you took one step further in your walk with Jesus today. 🙏
