Today’s SOAP Devotional
S - SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 4:2
"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
O - OBSERVATION:
Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reminds us that our faith in Christ is not just a personal journey—it’s a call to unity, love, and transformation. In chapter 4, Paul urges believers to walk in a manner worthy of their calling, emphasizing humility, gentleness, patience, and love. He points out that we are one body in Christ, meant to build each other up rather than tear each other down. The chapter also highlights how Christ has given gifts to His people to equip the church, calling us to maturity in faith so that we won’t be tossed around by every wind of teaching. Ultimately, Paul challenges us to put off the old self and embrace a life that reflects Christ.
A - APPLICATION:
If we’re honest, humility, patience, and gentleness aren’t our natural tendencies. It’s easier to respond in frustration, pride, or selfishness. But Paul reminds us that we have been called to something greater.
Am I walking in humility, or am I driven by the need to prove myself?
Do I bear with others in love, or do I get easily irritated by their weaknesses?
Am I building up the body of Christ, or am I contributing to division?
True unity isn’t uniformity—it’s choosing love in the midst of differences. It’s surrendering our own pride to reflect Christ’s character. When we “put on the new self” (Eph. 4:24), we let the Holy Spirit renew our hearts, minds, and actions, shaping us into a people who look like Jesus.
Today, let’s ask God to help us walk in humility, patience, and love, building up His church and reflecting His heart in a world desperate for truth.
P - PRAYER:
Jesus, I surrender my pride and impatience to You. Teach me to walk in humility, to love others as You have loved me, and to live in a way that honors You. Help me to build up the body of Christ, to seek unity over division, and to put on the new self that reflects Your character. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can love, lead, and serve like You. Amen.

What is a SOAP?
For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.
Here’s how it works:
S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!
O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?
A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?
P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
