Today’s SOAP Devotional - By Colby F. Maier

S - SCRIPTURE:  Galatians 2:20 (ESV)

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

O - OBSERVATION:

Paul reminds us that faith in Christ fundamentally transforms our identity and purpose. By being "crucified with Christ," we no longer rely on our own efforts or righteousness. Christ now lives in us, empowering us to live a life rooted in faith, fueled by His sacrificial love. This verse challenges us to see our lives as fully surrendered to Christ, not partially dependent on our old ways, patterns or behaviors.

A - APPLICATION:

Ask yourself: Are you living by faith in Christ, or are you still striving in your own strength? Surrender your old self and lean into the life Christ offers. When faced with daily struggles, choose to trust in Christ's power and provision rather than relying on your own understanding or ability. Let your actions, words, and decisions reflect the reality that Christ lives in you, transforming how you engage with the world.

P - PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me and giving Yourself for me. Help me to surrender my life daily, trusting in Your power and presence within me. Teach me to live by faith and walk in step with Your Spirit. Strengthen me to reflect Your love in all I do, and use my life to draw others closer to You. I am Yours. All of me. Amen.

What is a SOAP?

For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.

Here’s how it works:

S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!

O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?

A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?

P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life.
