Today’s SOAP Devotional
S - SCRIPTURE: Hebrews 6:1-3 (NIV)
"Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about cleansing rites, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And God permitting, we will do so."
O - OBSERVATION:
Spiritual growth is not optional—it’s essential. The writer of Hebrews calls believers to move beyond the basics of faith and press forward into deeper maturity. While foundational truths—repentance, faith, and the resurrection—are crucial, they are meant to be a starting point, not the finish line. God desires for us to build upon what we’ve learned and grow in wisdom, discernment, and biblical understanding.
A - APPLICATION:
Many Christians remain stuck in spiritual infancy, revisiting the same teachings without ever maturing in their faith. But just as a student must advance from basic arithmetic to higher mathematics, so must we move from elementary teachings to a deeper, richer knowledge of God’s Word.
This is where true transformation happens—when we don’t just know about God, but intimately understand His truth and live it out. Growing in biblical wisdom helps us discern truth in a world filled with deception, strengthens our faith in times of doubt, and equips us to lead others with confidence. The question is: Are you pressing forward in maturity, or are you staying where it’s comfortable?
P - PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I don’t want to stay stagnant in my faith. Take me deeper into Your truth. Give me wisdom, discernment, and a hunger to know You more. Help me grow in maturity so I can walk in obedience and lead others to Your truth. In Jesus name, Amen.

What is a SOAP?
For each day of Bible reading, we do a SOAP devotional to go deeper into the word of God. We always provide an example SOAP from one of our authors, but we highly encourage you to do your own SOAP with today’s reading. God wants to speak to you personally, and will highlight a passage of today’s reading that’s just for you.
Here’s how it works:
S – SCRIPTURE
Physically write out the Bible verse
You’ll be amazed at what God will reveal to you when you
slow down to write or meditate on what you are reading!
O – OBSERVATION
What do you see in the verses you’re reading?
Who is the audience? Is there a repetition of words? What words stand out to you? What is the main lesson or theme?
A – APPLICATION
When God’s Word becomes personal
What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my life? Are there any changes I need to make?
P – PRAYER
Pray God’s Word back to Him
If He has revealed something to you during this time in His
Word, pray about it. Confess if He has revealed some sin that is in your life. Take time to thank Him for His goodness in your life
